Junior Lynx!

Junior Lynx (New Players Aged 4-8)

Our Junior Lynx program is a non-contact introductory 6-week session for beginner players aged 4-8.  We are very excited about this new program to get younger boys and girls interested in the great sport of field lacrosse.  See our Junior Lynx flyer.  Our one-hour, once-a-week sessions will go start September 7 at 9 am and be held every Sunday for six weeks.

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions:

Q. Does my child need any equipment to participate in the Junior Lynx program?

A. No. All your child needs is sports-appropriate clothing and a water bottle. Sports-appropriate clothing consists of sneakers and shorts or pants suitable for running.  Few parents are interested in spending money on equipment for a child just starting a new sport. This is why we provide the sticks, balls, and all necessary equipment for everyone to have a positive experience. If your child has a lacrosse stick please feel free to bring it, but it is not required.

Q. Does the Junior Lynx program use real lacrosse balls?

A. No, we use only squishy balls or tennis balls during all Junior Lynx sessions, never actual lacrosse balls.  First, a child hit accidentally by a lacrosse ball at a young age can be injured. With squishy balls kids have no fear of being hit which allows them to focus on the task at hand. But additionally, using squishy balls develops soft hands which are essential to lacrosse play at higher levels.

Q. How is the Junior Lynx program different from other youth sports programs?

 A. We believe many factors separate us from the rest, but we hope parents will always notice two very important things:  1. Your son or daughter will be having fun and 2. The level of organization and thought that goes into each practice and lesson plan will be very high.

Q. Can you show us a video of what a typical minute of practice might look like?
A. Of course. Click the link below for a video of a similar program.  The emphasis is on participation and fun in a well-structured, safe environment.
